APRIL: Air Plume Release Interactive Learning
REFLECTION

 Printable version

After you've completed the scenario, please read the following questions and discuss them with your mentor and/or the other members of your team.

  1. What part of the scenario did you and your team find most challenging? Why?
  2. What were some of the biggest differences in going from the Hotspot to NARAC plots? How did these differences force you to reevaluate your response?
  3. How did the plume change based on the field measurements (i.e., the third set of plots you received)? Looking back, what did the changes across the three sets of plots teach you about using predictive plots in crafting an effective emergency response plan?
  4. How might the plume's dispersal have differed if the release was in a downtown area with many taller buildings?
  5. What are the similarities and differences in how you responded to the chemical release and the radiological release scenarios?
  6. How would have advance planning helped you in responding to the scenarios? How might it help you in preparing for actual releases in your town?
  7. How do you plan to apply what you learned in this scenario (and course) to the real-life decisions you make on the job?
